Assault With a Deadly Hedgehog

When you're going to assault someone, sooner or later you're going to have to face the age-old question: What weapon shall I use? You have to weigh the following factors:
  • How badly do I want to damage my victim?
  • Low or high-tech?
  • Can I get it in time?

A New Zealand man,
William Singalargh, somehow used these criteria to arrive at his weapon of choice - a hedgehog, according to an article published in the New Zealand Herald.

Singalargh, 27, reportedly picked up the hedgehog and threw it at a 15-year-old boy in the North Island east coast town of Whakatane on February 9.

"It hit the victim in the leg, causing a large, red welt and several puncture marks. He was arrested shortly afterward for assault with a weapon, namely the hedgehog," Senior Sgt. Bruce Jenkins said.

If convicted, Singalargh faces up to five years in prison. No telling what penalties he'd be facing had a kiwi been the only available weapon.
